Today we’re excited to announce the release of BabyTime, the first iPhone app for Vanderbilt University Medical Center. We worked with Vanderbilt on the idea of helping moms-to-be have a smoother labor and delivery experience. There are already apps on the App Store to help moms with the general pregnancy process, but there are really no great apps to help moms (or dads) with the actual labor and delivery experience.
We knew right from the start that BabyTime had to be simple and easy to use, especially considering that labor and delivery can be an intense experience. BabyTime has four key features:
- Contraction Timer to track contractions and more importantly, the time between contractions
- Hospital Quick Dial to allow a mom to dial her provider and other important people right from the app
- Directions to Vanderbilt University Medical Center
- Frequently Asked Questions specifically about labor and delivery
Josh Miller, UI designer for BabyTime, said, “I finished design on BabyTime the day before my wife and I had our first child. Working on the app at such a relevant time provided special insight and really drove the simplicity and specificity of the design.”
“Baby Time was developed using the latest technology that iOS has to offer with full support for iOS 4, including multitasking, Retina Display compatibility and integration with Google Maps for directions,” said Jesse Bunch, app developer for BabyTime.
We are thrilled to be collaborating with Vanderbilt to push innovation in healthcare by offering tools for patients and caregivers that were literally not possible just two years ago. We hope you like it and would love to hear how we can make it better.
BabyTime is a free download on the App Store.
