Inspiration is Random: 4 of 4

Travel. We’ve discussed design galleries, blogs, and music. For the most part, all can be explored online. But… sometimes you have to get away. Away from the glow of your computer screen. Away from the things you’re used to. Away from your comfort zone.

“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.” - Mark Twain

I was fortunate enough to have adventurous parents who love to be outdoors. We took a lot of trips growing up, and most involved camping. Hiking trails, bike rides, cooking over the fire, playing UNO®, roasting s’mores, fighting off raccoons, sleeping under the stars. These are the times I remember - when I got away and created a new experience.

“The core of mans’ spirit comes from new experiences.” - Christopher McCandless

I realize camping isn’t for everyone, but take a road-trip, buy a plane ticket, visit a new place, meet new people, find a new perspective. The funny thing about travel is as soon as you start venturing out, the smaller this world feels. I’ve seen some amazing places that have definitely inspired me.

My sister just moved to Germany to get her PhD in Agricultural Economics. I’ll be visiting her at the end of this month and cannot wait! I’m sure I’ll end up with plenty of photos/videos to share, but more importantly, I’ll have gained an experience with a new perspective.

“We shall not cease from exploration and at the end of all our exploring will be to arrive where we started and know the place for the first time.” - T. S. Eliot
